The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has nominated Kevin O’Brien as a finalist at this year’s prestigious annual awards.

The awards celebrate the UK’s finest construction professionals across a range of different categories. Kevin O’Brien, Senior Project Manager for Galliford Try West Midlands and South West, has been nominated for the Construction Manager of the Year Award in the Higher Education category for The Exchange building for the University of Birmingham acknowledging his achievements and delivery of projects to an extraordinary standard.

This follows the excellent success from The Exchange project that was previously awarded the Heritage Project of the Year by the West Midlands Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Conservation and Preservation Award at the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards.

Commenting on his nomination Kevin O’Brien said: “It is an honour to be nominated for this award and I’m happy to see that all our hard work and dedication that we put into each project is being recognised. “

Simon Courtney, Managing Director of Galliford Try Building West Midlands and South West, commented: “We are extremely proud of Kevin and he is a true asset to the team and Galliford Try as an organisation. We wish him all the best at this year’s awards.”

This year, the CIOB Awards return to London and will be hosted by radio and television presenter Anita Rani. In total, just over 70 construction managers and organisations have been shortlisted for 14 awards from across the industry, making Kevin’s achievement all the more impressive.

The winners will be announced on 28 September.
