Stephen Slessor, Managing Director for Galliford Try’s Environment business, has been named as the new UK Forum Chair for British Water.

British Water represents the interests of UK water and wastewater supply chain companies together with wider stakeholders across the sector, through their UK, Technical and International forums, helping businesses by promoting best practice in their work.

Steve, who joined the business in 2006 as a Quantity Surveyor, has led the Environment team since February 2021, and was chosen for the role of chair due to his ability to develop innovative solutions and drive change in the industry, as well as being a dedicated mentor and coach to a number of young professionals.

In addition to this, he is an advisor to the Scottish Government on Infrastructure and a visiting professor in Digital Construction at the Robert Gordon University, where he is well-respected on issues faced by the construction industry such as digital transformation and the steps to achieving net-zero carbon.

Steve commented: “I am honoured to be the successful nominee for the role of UK Forum Chair for British Water, and I hope I can help to shape positive change across the industry in this role. I am excited by the possibilities that new technologies can bring to the sector over the coming years, and I am delighted that I am in a position to help lead that forward.”

Steve has also previously held the role of President of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES).
