Galliford Try’s project team at the Syngenta Huddersfield Manufacturing site has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Constructing Excellence (CE) Yorkshire and Humber Awards, recognising the strength and longevity of the partnership.

In the People and Culture category, the joint venture has been recognised for its local delivery model and adaptability in the face of changing operational requirements. A committed on-site team, supported by a supply chain of over 23 subcontractors, 18 of which are based in Yorkshire has ensured that the evolving needs of the client were met while reducing the project’s carbon footprint through local procurement and delivery.

Galliford Try’s long-standing partnership with Syngenta, established in 2000 has achieved over 2,200 days without a lost time injury across more than 40 years of continuous service. By appointing six strategic partners and operating a 24-hour and seven-day a week year-round service, the team has delivered over £25m of works earning recognition in the Integration and Collaborative Working category.

This long-term collaboration has enabled the team to deliver a diverse range of maintenance and capital projects over the past five years, including drainage surveys, relining, plumbing, reinforced concrete works, watermain replacements, erection of portal frame building and electrical works all contributing to the seamless operation of Syngenta’s agrichemical production plants.

Tony Dobson, Galliford Try’s Project Manager at the Syngenta site, commented: "We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories that are focused on contributing positively to the local community and collaborative working while maintaining a safe, sustainable and efficient environment. We are proud of the work we have achieved together with Syngenta and look forward to continuing our partnership. Wishing the team the best of luck for the awards."
