Galliford Try’s Silverwood inpatient facility at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, has received the Silver Award for Best Interior Design Project (New Build) at the Building Better Healthcare (BBH) Awards.
Delivered by Galliford Try’s Building Southern business for Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Silverwood replaces the Abraham Cowley Unit and was designed in partnership with people with lived experience of mental health services. In true co-design, service users contributed to design decisions, operational planning, and staff training, ensuring the facility reflects their needs.
The modern facility includes four wards with single en-suite bedrooms, private gardens, therapy and sensory rooms, a gym, and woodland areas for supervised walks creating a therapeutic environment that supports recovery.
Laura Hodgetts, Healthcare Director for Galliford Try, said: “Silverwood is a testament to what can be achieved when we listen and work alongside those with lived experience. This award recognises the commitment of everyone involved to create a therapeutic environment that truly makes a difference.”
The Building Better Healthcare Awards celebrate innovation and excellence across healthcare construction, design, and technology.
