Galliford Try’s Infrastructure business has received the Showcase Award at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) South West Awards for the A303 Sparkford to Ilchester Dualling Scheme.

The £155m scheme, delivered in partnership with National Highways, has transformed a 3.5-mile stretch of the A303, improving journey reliability and safety through the creation of three new junctions, two major structures, and extensive earthworks.

In addition, more than £64,000 was donated in local community initiatives, reinforcing the scheme’s commitment to social value. The project was also singled out for its innovative approach to public safety, including the construction of a temporary haul road and bridge.

Judges praised the scheme as a truly deserving recipient, highlighting its role in strengthening the South West’s position as a vibrant, accessible, and economically dynamic region.

Jonathan Blott, Design Manager for Galliford Try Infrastructure, was also recognised for consistently driving the A303 project. His collaborative approach with the supply chain, client, designer, scheme maintainer, and wider project team fostered strong relationships and ensured challenges were resolved to the highest standards underpinning the technical achievements and collaborative spirit that define the A303 scheme.

Glennan Blackmore, Managing Director for Galliford Try Infrastructure, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive the Showcase Award and this recognition reflects the dedication of our team, who worked tirelessly to deliver a transformative project that enhances connectivity and safety while supporting the local community through close collaboration with National Highways.”
