Galliford Try has received multiple nominations at this year’s Architect’s Journal (AJ) Architecture Awards which recognise the very best in architecture across the UK.
In the Workplace Project (£10m and over) category, Galliford Try’s Building West Midlands and South West team has been recognised for the Assembly Bristol development. Designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the mixed-use office complex features three distinctive buildings - Assembly A, B and C - set along Bristol's iconic Floating Harbour. The project includes modern workspaces, a rooftop club room, a restaurant, and a waterside park aimed at supporting wellbeing and community interaction.
Additionally, Morrison Construction Building Central’s East Calder Primary School project built in partnership with West Lothian Council and Hub South East, received a nomination for the School Project award. The £18.3m school designed by Architects NORR, features a distinctive triangular-shaped building designed to maximise energy efficiency and enhance educational connectivity throughout its modern learning spaces for future students.
East Calder Primary School was also named Primary School Project of the Year at the Education Property Awards and has been shortlisted for Project of the Year (Schools) and Inspiring Learning Spaces at this year’s Education Estate Awards and Learning Places Scotland Awards.
The Resident Edinburgh project also built by Morrison Construction Building Central was nominated in the Adaptive reuse into other (£5m and over) award at the AJ Architecture Retrofit and Reuse awards. Designed by MLA Architects, this project transformed a dated 1950s office building into a contemporary hotel, preserving key elements of Edinburgh’s architectural heritage. It recently received the Retrofit award at The Scottish Design Awards.
Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented: “These nominations reflect our commitment to delivering inspiring spaces that truly make a difference in people’s lives. We look forward to celebrating all our teams’ achievements at the awards later this year."
Winners will be announced on 27 November 2025 at Royal Lancaster London for the AJ Architecture awards.
