Galliford Try has once again been recognised for its excellence in the education sector, adding to its shortlisting for Contractor of the Year with Morrison Construction Building Central’s East Calder Primary School project shortlisted in the prestigious categories of Project of the Year (Schools) and Inspiring Learning Spaces at this year’s Education Estates Awards.

Delivered in partnership with West Lothian Council and Hub South East, and funded through the Scottish Futures Trust’s Learning Estate Investment Programme (LEIP), the £18.3m East Calder Primary School features a striking triangular design by architects NORR. The building maximises energy efficiency while fostering modern, flexible learning spaces that support educational connectivity and student wellbeing.

The project has already earned accolades, including Primary School Project of the Year at the Education Property Awards, and is also shortlisted for the Learning Places Scotland Awards in the same categories.

Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented: “Being shortlisted for Contractor of the Year is a fantastic endorsement of the consistent quality and innovation we bring to education projects across the UK. The further recognition of East Calder Primary School highlights the strength of our collaborative approach and our commitment to creating inspiring, sustainable learning environments that make a real difference to communities.”

The recognition builds on Galliford Try’s shortlisting for Contractor of the Year, following its 2023 win in the same category, and highlights the Group’s continued commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality learning environments across the UK.

The winners of the Education Estates Awards will be announced in Manchester on 14 October.
