Galliford Try’s Pam McNeill, Business Assurance Manager for Galliford Try Fabrications and Steve Houckham, Head of HS&E for Environment both received commendations in their respective categories at this year’s British Ex-Forces in Business awards.
Pam has been highly commended in the Engineering Excellence category, recognising her unique ability to merge military values with precision engineering and problem-solving skills. Prior to Galliford Try, she worked as a metalsmith in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers and served for 23 years.
Steve received a commendation in the Team Leader of the Year category. His leadership over the past 18 months has played a key role in supporting the growth and performance of the Environment business. A former Royal Marine, Steve joined the Forces at 16 and served on operational tours in Afghanistan.
In addition, Andrea Clarkson, Senior Estimator for Environment, who served for six years in the British Army as a Military Clerk, was shortlisted in the Champion of Women category for her efforts to promote gender balance in both the Armed Forces community and the wider business environment and her mentorship of female service leavers.

The British Ex-Forces in Business awards is the largest celebration globally of veterans who have transitioned into successful civilian careers.
