Galliford Try’s Building North East and Yorkshire business has completed the construction of the Energy Central Learning Hub in Blyth, a key project aimed at supporting the region’s growing green energy sector.
The new £12.3m facility, commissioned by a partnership including the Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, has been designed to develop a pipeline of talent to meet the needs of Northumberland’s expanding green energy sector.
The new building is part of the wider Energy Central regeneration scheme in Blyth that is creating a growth cluster for companies operating in the offshore energy, subsea, decommissioning, battery manufacturing and renewable energy markets.
The Energy Central Learning Hub consists of modern teaching facilities together with a clean energy-focused visitor centre, and will offer high-quality training and employment opportunities for local residents, equipping them with the skills required to thrive in the renewable energy industry.
Cliff Wheatley, Managing Director for Galliford Try’s Building North East and Yorkshire business, commented, “We are proud to have delivered such an important project for the Blyth community and the wider Northumberland area. The Hub will serve as a cornerstone for green energy training and development, and we look forward to seeing its impact in the years to come.”
