Galliford Try has begun work on two major projects under the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) umbrella.

The business has signed a £20m contract as part of the £30m gateway scheme, funded through TCF, to transform the surroundings of Selby railway station on behalf of North Yorkshire Council. The project will enhance the use of sustainable transport through delivering improved access, walking and cycling routes to the station along with creating a better arrival experience for people visiting the town.

The first phase of the scheme will see a new car park built at the station and accessible platform access to the rear of the building. There will be an improved and remodelled bus station, and improvements to footpaths and cycleways.

Additionally, the business is now advancing phase two of the Sheffield City Centre TCF Design and Build scheme, with the inclusion of the first phase of the adjacent Nether Edge Wedge, which will create a non-motorised transport corridor from the suburb to the city centre, using walking and cycling corridors.

Liz Bell, Local Authority Director for Galliford Try Infrastructure, commented: “We are delighted to be underway with these two schemes that will reshape the urban environments around them. Our strong track record in improving the public realm and transport interfaces stands us in good stead to create the high-quality infrastructure that these communities need.”
