Galliford Try is pleased to announce that Cliff Wheatley has been promoted to its Executive Board as Divisional Managing Director of Building, with effect from 1 January 2026.
Cliff will succeed Ian Jubb, who will retire at the end of June 2026, following 19 years of dedicated service to the Group.
Cliff has more than 28 years of experience and joined Galliford Try with the acquisition of Miller Construction in 2008, being promoted to Managing Director of its Building North East and Yorkshire business unit in 2014. Jeremy Barnett, Operations Director, will be promoted to Managing Director of Galliford Try Building North East, replacing Cliff.
Commenting on the announcement, Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: “We are pleased to welcome Cliff to the Executive Board and congratulate him and Jeremy on their promotions. Cliff joins the Board at a very exciting time and I look forward to working with him as our Sustainable Growth Strategy to 2030 continues to build momentum.
“Ian has played a significant and instrumental role in the Group’s success, overseeing the growth and development of our Building Division as well as contributing to the development of our wider Sustainable Growth Strategy. We have carefully planned for Ian’s retirement and I thank him for his excellent contribution to Galliford Try over many years.
“I’m particularly pleased that all our promotions are internal, demonstrating the strength in depth of our management teams and the effectiveness of our succession planning.”
