Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure has been appointed to deliver new Rapid/Ultra Rapid Hub Electric Vehicle (EV) charging sites on behalf of Osprey Charging Network Ltd in conjunction with Re-Power Energy.
The Digital Infrastructure business, part of the Specialist Services division, offers a wide range of services including wireless infrastructure, core and fibre networks, renewable solutions and data centres.
EV infrastructure is a strategic growth area for Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure, forming a core part of the Group’s Sustainable Growth Strategy. With proven expertise in the design and delivery of charging stations, the team is focused on supporting the transition to low-carbon transport across the UK.
This project at Duke Street, Glasgow, will deliver a new Rapid/Ultra Rapid charging hub, featuring a striking sculpted photovoltaic canopy — a world-first in its design — and marks a significant step forward in its EV delivery ambitions.
The investment undertaken in partnership with site owner Real Estate Income Trust (REIT) (Scotland) Ltd will be using a moulded structure rather than steel, for which Re-Power Energy have international IP.
Andy Duggins, Managing Director for Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Osprey and Re-Power on this ground-breaking new charging station. The EV installation market is a key part of our Sustainable Growth Strategy and I look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to provide this much-needed new facility for local EV owners in Glasgow.”
Ian Johnston, CEO, Osprey Charging Network commented: “We know customers prefer charging hubs with canopies and are delighted that this project is underway, bringing Osprey’s rapid, reliable charging to more of Scotland’s EV drivers.”
Wendy Summers, Director of Kepler Consultancy Limited acting on behalf of REIT Group, commented: “REIT Group is delighted to be involved with this innovative project and is excited to see the initial concept come to fruition. The development shows great commitment to the local area and will provide a facility which is functional, sustainable and eye catching.”
Mark Deverell, Director and Co-founder at Re-Power Energy, commented: “This is an exciting time for Re-Power Energy as we break ground on this project as part of our extensive pipeline and prepare for our Second Funding round this coming Autumn.”
