The A47 North Tuddenham to Easton project has reached a major milestone with the successful installation of the final beams on the largest structure on the scheme, a bridge over the River Tud.

Each braced beam pair, weighing more than 120t, was carefully lifted using a 500t crawler crane supported by 200t of ballast and safely positioned on the abutments over the course of two days.

This achievement marks a significant step forward for the scheme following two years of detailed planning. The complex operation demanded meticulous preparation and close onsite co-ordination, with precision and teamwork critical to the safe installation of these substantial structural elements.

The scheme continues to make strong progress, with the upcoming traffic switch at Wood Lane Junction and Lyng Road representing the next key milestone.

The £300m project will upgrade the A47 between North Tuddenham and Easton in Norfolk to a dual carriageway, completing a dual carriageway between Norwich and Dereham, supporting economic growth and easing congestion in the area.

Ondrej Humplik, Project Director for the A47 Tuddenham project said: “The leadership, alongside the commitment and professionalism of the wider team, ensured this challenging lift was completed safely and successfully, marking another important step in delivering this vital infrastructure project.
