A finalist for ‘Best High Volume New Housing Development’ in the LABC awards, Harrington Place provided 147 contemporary apartments in the heart of Woking.

The development is situated just moments from Woking’s shops, nightlife and mainline railway station, building a vibrant new community with easy access to central London. The building consists of a single tiered block rising from seven to 12 storeys, with a range of retail outlets at ground level. The façade is composed of decorative brickwork, perforated bronze cladding and glass features that complement the surrounding buildings.

Designed for modern urban living, the development comprises one, two and three-bed apartments. A concierge reception includes waiting areas, post boxes, Amazon lockers and CCTV monitoring. A basement car park incorporates a mechanical ‘double stacker’ parking system to maximise spaces. Electric car charging points and a cycle store for 148 bikes promote sustainable travel in the ‘extra green’ borough of Woking.

With sustainability at the heart of the building's design, over 100 solar panels produce 60kW of renewable energy to reduce utility costs. State-of-the-art systems include the most efficient heat interface units ever tested to UK standards. Mineral-wool fibre insulation provides enhanced thermal performance, along with the highest fire safety standards of all insulation materials.

We used modern methods of construction to avoid disruption at a busy town centre location. This included prefabricated bathroom pods, enabling rapid installation, fewer deliveries and a seamless factory finish. Close engagement with neighbouring properties ensured positive relationships and a Considerate Constructor’s Scheme silver award. We partnered with local disability charity LinkAble to create eye catching artwork, winning the national Ivor Goodsite hoarding competition.

Harrington Place encapsulates our ambition to develop a built environment that meets the needs of the community, whilst taking every opportunity to contribute positively to the environment.” Mark Rolt Chief Executive Officer, ThamesWey
Everyone at LinkAble would like to say a huge thank you to Galliford Try for their continued support, welcoming the ‘We Can Do Anything Group’ along every couple of months, providing a volunteering opportunity for one of our service users, and also for inviting our service users to take part in the Ivor Goodsite hoarding competition.” Alison Keely Chief Executive Officer, LinkAble
