Galliford Try has started works on the £27m refurbishment of 68-71 Newman Street in London.
The project will reunite the two buildings between 68–71 Newman Street and 9–12 Berners Mews and is being delivered through the Southern Construction Framework alongside Development Managers, V7.
The refurbishment will deliver a two‑storey extension to increase office floorspace, along with the full replacement of all building façades. The scheme includes a comprehensive Category A fit‑out, providing seven floors of modern office accommodation supported by new Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating and fire protection (MEPH) systems, as well as upgraded plant at roof and basement levels. The upper floors will benefit from new external terraces, with an additional rooftop terrace offering further amenity space.
As part of the redevelopment, a new ground‑floor entrance will be created to form a contemporary, welcoming reception area. The project will also introduce new cycle parking and improved end‑of‑trip facilities in the basement.
Matthew Pool, Managing Director of Galliford Try Building London and South East Commercial, said: “This refurbishment will set a benchmark for creating an efficient, modern and future‑ready workplace. By transforming the building inside and out from the new reception and upgraded facilities to enhanced office floorspace and rooftop amenities, we’re delivering a space that supports wellbeing, sustainability and the evolving needs of its occupiers.”
