Galliford Try, one of the UK’s leading construction groups, has appointed Phil Harris to Managing Director of its Investments business.

Phil originally joined Galliford Try with the acquisition of Miller Construction in 2014, having joined as Bid Director in 2002 and progressing to Investments Director through a series of promotions. Phil has led the development of Galliford Try’s Private Rented Sector (PRS) offering, with the Group achieving contract completion on its first PRS development scheme in August 2023 - a project that will see the creation of 272 one and two-bedroom apartments in a 30-storey tower, close to the centre of Cardiff.

Under Phil’s leadership, the business will continue to target co-development PRS opportunities as part of its Sustainable Growth Strategy to increase margin and revenue in adjacent markets, as well as nurturing and growing its offering in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arena.

Phil will report to Mark Baxter, Executive Board member of Galliford Try and Divisional Managing Director of its Specialist Services Division, which includes Galliford Try Investments.

Commenting on the promotion, Mark said: “PRS forms a key focus of our Sustainable Growth Strategy, enabling us to utilise existing skillsets to progress co-development opportunities which will contribute considerably to the Group’s margin growth targets.

“I am delighted to welcome Phil to this role as we build on our recent successes with the business now well positioned to capitalise on a number of schemes this key sector over the coming year.”

Phil commented: “It is an honour to be appointed Managing Director of Galliford Try Investments and lead such a fantastic group of people.  The growth of our business will be primarily focused on developing further our strong pipeline of Build to Rent opportunities in the Private Rented Sector and we are well placed to do so.

“I am also looking forward to working more closely with our team delivering great services on our existing Public Private Partnerships as well as exploring new areas where Galliford Try Investments can help bring margin enhancing opportunities to the Group.”
