Galliford Try’s Guildford Crescent development has secured double recognition at this year’s Constructing Excellence Wales Awards, earning shortlists in both Building Project of the Year (over £5m) and Residential Project of the Year.
Built by Galliford Try’s Building West Midlands and South West business, the project is privately funded by Lloyds Living, with Galliford Try Investments acting as the client. The building sits alongside the new Canal Quarter, a major regeneration scheme bringing the city’s historic waterways back into the public realm and is located on the eastern edge of Cardiff’s city centre.
Now known as ‘The Rise’, the £52m scheme will become Cardiff’s tallest building upon its imminent completion. The 30-storey tower features 272 private rented sector apartments, ground-floor retail units, and amenity spaces on the ground, first, and 27th floors.
The nomination recognises the scheme’s strong sustainability credentials and innovative construction approach, demonstrating Galliford Try’s commitment to delivering high-quality homes using Modern Methods of Construction.
Simon Courtney, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building West Midlands and South West, commented: “This recognition highlights the outstanding work of the project team and our commitment to sustainable, high-quality residential development. We’re proud to see Guildford Crescent acknowledged as one of Wales’s leading construction projects in these two prestigious categories.”
Winners will be announced on 12 June at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.
