Galliford Try signs up to Building Mental Health Charter

Date 10 Sep 2020

Galliford Try has further strengthened its commitment to wellbeing by pledging commitment to the Building Mental Health Charter.

As a signatory, the business is adding the force of our backing to the industry-led campaign, which is designed to provide awareness and understanding of the impact of poor mental wellbeing and promote positive mental health. Its overarching objectives are to reduce stigma and discrimination, encourage conversation in the workplace and educate and enable champions to support keeping our people safe.

Galliford Try has long championed health and wellbeing with its ‘Be Well’ programme which has previously won ‘Most Inspiring Mental Health Initiative’ at the Inspire Awards and ‘Best Mental Health Strategy’ at the Employee Benefit Awards.

The programme spans both physical and mental wellbeing, incorporating several different areas of support including mental health training for employees and supply chain members, a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, online health check tools and advice lines, guides about how to structure working life better and access to Mental Health First Aiders.

Commenting on the move, HR Director Vikki Skene, said: “Nurturing good mental health and resilience have never been more important and, as a people-orientated, values-driven business, we take our role in leading by example seriously. We’re therefore pleased to put our support behind the ‘Building Mental Health’ campaign, which complements the great work we are already doing across our organisation both through our own programme and as partners of Mates in Mind.”
