Galliford Try has been awarded the new Platinum membership of the 5% Club’s Employer Audit Scheme, in its first year of introduction within the accredited benchmarking programme.

The business secured the accolade for achieving Gold Membership for three consecutive years, and for having 10% of employees in “earn and learn” positions (graduates, apprentices and sponsored students) in the third year. The business was one of only 20 employers to meet the Platinum Standard, meaning Galliford Try is in the top 3% of members of The 5% Club achieving this prestigious top level.

The achievement also recognises the business’s commitment to inclusion and social mobility, the quality of training and development and future growth of ‘earn as you learn’ opportunities.

The accolade builds on Galliford Try’s successfully being named the number one place for graduates to work, and second for apprentices in TheJobCrowd’s list of Top Construction and Civil Engineering Companies 2023, as reviewed by graduates and apprentices themselves.

Vikki Skene, HR Director for Galliford Try, commented: “As a people-orientated, progressive employer, we are committed to being a destination employer and pride ourselves on the quality of our early careers programme, recognising their contribution to growing our own talent.

“Our success in achieving Platinum membership for the 5% Club’s Employer Audit Scheme in the first year of its introduction highlights our business’ dedication to the employment of early careers staff, as well as to their professional development.”

Mark Cameron OBE, Chief Executive at The 5% Club said: “Our Employer Audit Scheme recognises the efforts of all those employers who invest in their workforce through a broad range of workplace learning schemes. It is fantastic that in these challenging times so many are able to commit to the Employer Audit and to gain the credit for their efforts, and that the majority are striving to expand their schemes over the coming years. Their efforts and achievements are to be applauded. Even more impressive is the 3% who have achieved Platinum level membership - they represent the very best of our movement and of employers offering ‘earn and learn’ opportunities. ”
