Galliford Try’s Building North West business unit has successfully completed a project at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, on behalf of ACC Liverpool Group, soon to be Liverpool Experience Campus, delivering improvements that increase seating capacity and enhance the experience for visitors.
Delivered through the Procure Partnerships Framework, the works included installing 372 new seats, upgrading gangways, relocating accessible seating to improve access, creating additional seating areas, and replacing handrails to meet updated building regulations.
The scheme was delivered within a live arena environment, requiring careful planning to coordinate construction activities around a busy programme of events while ensuring fire routes and safe access were maintained throughout.
Works were completed in two phases, with the first phase delivered in summer 2025 and the second completed in early 2026. The project team accelerated elements of the programme, enabling key works to be completed ahead of schedule while avoiding construction over the Christmas period.
The successful completion of the project further demonstrates Galliford Try’s expertise in delivering complex refurbishment projects within live entertainment venues, building on its experience in the sector following the completion of renovation works at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Eddie Dos Santos, Director of Operations and Venue Management for The ACC Liverpool Group, said: “Working hand in hand with Galliford Try, we’ve been able to deliver upgrades that significantly enhance both the capacity and accessibility of the arena. Completing this work within a live events environment was no small task, but the collaboration between our teams ensured the project progressed smoothly and with minimal disruption. These improvements will make a real, lasting difference to our customers, clients and service partners, and we’re excited for audiences to experience the benefits.”
Darren Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North West, said: “Delivering improvements within a live venue environment requires careful planning, close collaboration and a flexible approach. Our team worked closely with ACC Liverpool Group and the arena operators to ensure the project was delivered safely and efficiently around a busy events schedule. We are proud to have enhanced this iconic venue while maintaining a seamless experience for visitors.”
Jessica Jones, Account Manager at Procure Partnerships Framework said: “We are proud to have supported the ACC in procuring Galliford Try for the successful delivery of upgrades at the iconic M&S Bank Arena. Delivering these works within a live venue environment required strong collaboration, and the Direct Award route through the framework enabled the team to mobilise quickly and plan effectively around a busy events schedule, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.”
