Galliford Try and its Morrison Construction business have claimed two major prizes at the Education Estates Awards in Manchester.

The business’s cutting-edge approach to educational buildings was recognised with the Contractor of the Year (over £50m turnover) award, while the spectacular Barony Campus in Cumnock, East Ayrshire took the prize for Project of the Year - Schools.

Galliford Try has maintained an order book of c£700m in the Education sector despite the pandemic, and was acknowledged for a significant run of success producing high-quality Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) facilities during the period.

Barony Campus, built by Morrison Construction Building Central, was chosen for the Project of the Year award ahead of a strong shortlist, including Galliford Try’s Swan School project in Oxford. The £68m scheme brought together five different schools on to one site, as well as featuring state-of-the-art sporting and community facilities.

Claire Jackson, Education Director for Galliford Try, commented: “Education is one of the key sectors for Galliford Try and we have built an enviable track record across all kinds of school and higher education building. We are delighted to have been recognised for what we have achieved over the past 12 months, and the project award for Barony Campus, a truly fantastic scheme, is the icing on the cake for us.”
