Galliford Try awarded Best Use of Innovation in Construction  

Galliford Try has been recognised as the winner of the Best Use of Innovation in Construction of Local Infrastructure at the Midlands Highways Alliance Plus Awards, which recognise outstanding projects that set new industry standards.   

The accolade acknowledges the innovative engineering techniques employed on the Grantham Southern Relief Road project to assemble a 130-tonne, 49-metre-long launch nose standing 4.5 metres high beneath a 132kV exclusion zone with limited clearance. This complex operation supported the construction of the River Witham Viaduct, which is being incrementally launched across the East Coast Main Line. 

Delivered on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council, secured through the Midlands Highways Alliance Plus framework, Grantham Southern Relief Road project links the A52 at Somerby Hill to the A1, crossing the Witham Valley, River Witham and East Coast Mainline railway via a new viaduct. 

When complete, the 3.5km relief road will improve journey times and reduce congestion in Grantham, while creating a safer, more attractive and accessible town centre, and helping to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution.
