Galliford Try appointed to deliver Outwoods Primary Care Centre and reconfiguration scheme

Galliford Try has been appointed by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to deliver the Outwoods Primary Care Centre and the Acute Front Door Redesign (AFDR) at Royal Derby Hospital, marking its fifth consecutive project with the Trust.

The Outwoods project, secured through ProCure22 (P22), will focus on delivering a new Primary Care Centre in Burton-upon-Trent. Designed to increase GP and community healthcare capacity for the growing Outwoods and north Burton population, the facility will provide modern healthcare services in a purpose-built environment, improving access to essential care for local residents.

Alongside this, the AFDR project at Royal Derby Hospital forms part of a major programme to redesign how patients enter and move through urgent and emergency care services. The project will reconfigure the hospital’s existing emergency access point to enhance capacity and improve patient flow, creating a single front door for ambulatory Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Centre patients.

Key improvements will include increased capacity for urgent and emergency care patients and enhanced mental health facilities.

The contract award further strengthens the ongoing partnership with University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Trust, following last year’s success at the Constructing Excellence Midlands East Awards for the Florence Nightingale Community Diagnostic Centre which was awarded the Retrofit Award.
