Galliford Try has been recognised at the 2026 North West Regional Construction Awards, with the Bolton University Collegiate School (UCS) expansion project winning the Greater Manchester Sub Regional Project of the Year award.
Delivered on behalf of Bolton University Collegiate School and its partners, the £17.6m project comprises a major extension to the existing campus, creating state-of-the-art teaching facilities including a new dining area, kitchen, sports hall and activity studio.
The project showcases the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction, with 70% of internal walls and all external elements manufactured and pre-finished off site using an innovative precast concrete sandwich panel system. This approach improved programme certainty while delivering safer construction, reduced waste and lower carbon emissions.
The scheme also includes more than 1,000 sqm of refurbishment works to existing areas of the school, supporting its transition from a vocational to academic curriculum, and helping to create a modern learning environment for students.
The North West Regional Construction Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and collaboration across the built environment, recognising the projects, people and partnerships driving positive change throughout the region. This year’s awards ceremony took place at Liverpool’s iconic Titanic Hotel, overlooking the city’s historic waterfront.
Darren Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North West, said: “We are delighted to see the Bolton UCS project recognised with this award. The development will provide exceptional facilities for students and staff while supporting the school's evolving educational offering.
“This achievement reflects the hard work, collaboration and commitment shown by everyone involved in the project, as well as the strong partnerships we have built with the client, our supply chain and stakeholders throughout delivery.”
