We recognised that the majority of sustainability impacts arising from construction occur during a building’s occupation. We therefore work closely with our customers to understand their aspirations in this area and deliver tailored and innovative solutions.
By working in collaboration with The Learning Network for Sustainable Healthcare Buildings and other project stakeholders, the design for Finchley Memorial Hospital evolved into the concept of a wider ‘health campus’. The building and outdoor spaces were considered together resulting in a wide range of features that promote health, including healing gardens, a therapy garden, wildlife garden and building pathways that enhance the patient experience by making them feel that they are the priority. The building has been promoted by RIBA as an example of Architectural Solutions for a Changing Health Sector.
