Yorkshire Water

Client: Yorkshire Water
Value: £100 million

A partnering culture rarely seen in a client/contractor relationship has been driving impressive results in west Yorkshire since 2000. Morrison Construction has formed a joint venture with Earthtech (ETM) to deliver part of the Yorkshire Water AMP4 Capital Investment Programme.

The added value brought by closer working together has resulted in a highly efficient and quick delivery process for ETM’s design and construct work for Yorkshire Water, which includes the main area framework for AMP4 and an additional number of large schemes which are competitively bid for.

Co-location is the cornerstone of working together between ETM and Yorkshire Water and has been taken a step further with the creation of the Joint Delivery Team (JDT) with the client.

The approach has fostered a genuine willingness to share information, understand each other’s drivers and play to the strengths of the partnership. This relationship has been extended to the operations staff with ETM closely involved to ensure that expectations are managed and a smooth handover of assets is achieved.

Morrison Construction completed a £14 million clear water project at Loftsome Bridge ahead of schedule. Technical innovation was been implemented to make good use of existing assets resulting in reduced write-off values for the client.

An emergency scheme following a fire at a sludge incinerator saw the team on site within 24 hours and repair work completed four weeks ahead of schedule achieving considerable tankerage cost savings for the client.

ETM has won a clutch of awards for its work on both AMP3 and AMP4 including Yorkshire Water’s Partner Award and consecutive annual RoSPA Awards.
