Scottish Water

Client: Scottish Water and Scottish Water Solutions
Value: £100 million
Duration: Four years

Morrison Construction has been working for Scottish Water and its predecessors for the last 12 years and is currently working on a varied portfolio of around £100 million worth of investment, the largest of any of the delivery partners, delivering Scottish Water’s Quality and Standards Q&S IIIa Capital Investment Programme. A significant proportion of the work is infrastructure and it is also the only delivery partner to cover the entire country.

Morrison Construction formed a consortium with Enpure (formally Purac) to deliver the projects ranging from a £20,000 capital maintenance repair to a £13 million new-build wastewater treatment works has required a highly flexible approach.

Significant changes to the programme of work also required a high level of resource management to deal with rapid ramping up and down of work to meet the needs of the Client and its delivery arm, Scottish Water Solutions.

The complementary skills provided by Morrison Construction project management and civil engineering expertise and Enpure’s track record in mechanical and electrical have been harnessed to the full throughout the framework contract and resulted in Morrison Enpure becoming the leading Associate Delivery Partner under Scottish Water Solutions' performance measures. Morrison Enpure have also achieved RoSPA Gold status for Health & Safety

The ability of Morrison Enpure to react to its client’s needs across some of Scotland’s most remote areas was demonstrated during the successful delivery of Scottish Water Q&S II Investment Programme when it worked as an Associate Delivery Partner.

Co-location in offices at four locations across Scotland has developed close working relationships which in turn has played a key role in the smooth delivery of a number of complex and challenging projects.

At North Kessock, a £3 million sewage transfer project required extensive liaison on environmental measures with the client and a wide range of other stakeholders to ensure that bottlenose dolphins in the area were not affected by the work.

Morrison Enpure also completed the first project under the Q&SIIIa programme, part of the River Ore sewer rehabilitation scheme, ahead of time and under budget and is handling one of the largest projects under the programme with the £9 million Mannofield WTW, part of a wider scheme to improve Aberdeen’s water supply.

During Q&S II almost £20 million of Morrison Enpure’s £30 million share of the work, which was scheduled to take four years to deliver, was delivered within 12 months yielding significant efficiency savings for Scottish Water.
