Airwave Solutions Networks provide mobile secure communications links for UK’s emergency services. Galliford Try has provided service for Airwave Solutions over a 10 year period.

As part of the rollout of the Airwave Solutions Network, Galliford Try constructed the MET & City Police Force Area TETRA communications network.

This involved the construction of 96 base sites directly for Airwave Solutions, constructing 14 sites as a full turnkey solution on O2 site shares and supplying components, rigging, etc to other third party site sharers.

Galliford Try worked closely with all parties involved and built a good working relationship with Airwave management teams, acquisition agents, designers, site providers, local authorities and the MET & City Police, building a number of highly sensitive sites in the MET & City region.

Galliford Try recently became one of two contractors appointed to provide design and construction services for Airwave for a dedicated radio solution for the London Organising Committee for Olympic Games and increased sectored capacity on existing network for Olympic Service Delivery. This involves the modification and rebuilding of the existing network to convert sites from existing EBTS to latest generation N-Tetra / E-Tetra MTS technology whilst maintaining an operational service for the existing “blue-light” customers.

It also involves the delivery of new sites tailored specifically at Olympic venues throughout Great Britain enable testing and optimisation in readiness for the 2012 London Olympic & Paralympic Games.
