The project comprised bridge construction and track widening for the Trent Valley Four Tracking scheme, part of the modernisation of the West Coast Route.
The contract involved the demolition and reconstruction/widening of a number of overbridges and underbridges on a section of the West Coast Main Line. Works to introduce two additional tracks had to be completed within existing land boundaries and extensive lengths of soil nailing and gabion walling were employed to achieve this.
