Dartford Cable Bridge

Client: EDF Energy
Location: Dartford, Kent

Galliford Try was requested to propose a security solution for a site damaged by a vandal attack on a cable bridge crossing, causing loss of power to a wide area and affecting almost 100,000 domestic and business customers alike.

The project required Galliford Try to design and install a Security Equipment Assessment Panel (SEAP)rated solution to each side of the bridge protecting either abutment wall from ground level to the full height of the cable deck of 12m. The final solution includes access stairs, doors, security panel walling, access control, CCTV cameras and video analytics software in a secure environment whilst being monitored remotely at EDF’s security headquarters.

Galliford Try carried out the project whilst working in close proximity to the live 132Kv cables as a responsible contractor under the CDM Regulations 2007, working to our stringent safety, health, environment and quality standards.
