Client: Linden Homes
Location: Battersea, South London
Rock & Alluvium undertook a complex piling project at the foot of a steep railway embankment at Battersea in London, constructing a contiguous retaining wall formed of 185 reinforced piles and incorporating two small sections of secant wall containing 45 soft female piles. Small secant boxes are located at both ends.
Work also included the simultaneous drilling of 395 CFA load-bearing piles of 450mm, 600mm and 750mm diameters and averaging 22.6m long as well as the formation of two temporary sheetpile coffer dams to facilitate the subsequent construction of a car stacker.
Previously occupied by a warehouse, the tight, quarter-hectare site is being redeveloped into a five-storey block for 100 residential units and 14,000 square feet of office space.
