Galliford Try is a national housebuilding and construction company delivering industry leading performance in the construction of a sustainable future.
Client: Perth and Kinross Council
Value: £13 million
Location: Perth
This project constructed for Perth and Kinross Council provided protection for Perth from the effects of flooding by the River Tay. It consisted of landscaped earth embankments and stone-faced reinforced concrete walls, stretching from the north to the south of Perth, with flood gates at appropriate locations, which can be closed when the River Tay is in spate.
Of particular significance to the completed project was the requirement to create a high quality urban landscape in the finishes to the works. This included the use of superior quality paving, walling and street furniture materials to create an urban landscape compatible with the characteristic appearance of the City of Perth.
This project received an Environmental Commendation from the Saltire Society.
