BT Vision Data Centre
Client: BT Locate
Value: £1 million
Location: Birmingham City Centre
Galliford Try created a 3,500 sq ft data centre for BT Locate.
The project involved:
- Substantial building fabric strip out in a live building in a city centre location.
- Significant asbestos removal.
- Secondary support steelwork to provide required floor loading for the proposed equipment.
- Full refurbishment to create conditioned space.
- Full mechanical and electrical fit out including; five new 45kW air handling units at N+1 to allow cooling loads of 4kw per racks; over 3 km of new sub main cables to the basement to allow a new un-interruptible power supply operating at N+1 with 20 min autonomy within the data centre; capacity for each rack to be fed with two AC supplies fed from separate PDUs using separate feeds (A+B feeds) as well as phase rotation along the suiteline; an underfloor cable basket network allowing full inter-rack and inter-suite optical and copper cabling, and new alarms for the detection of smoke, fire, flood and gas.
