This project comprised the construction of bespoke rehearsal studios for a mixture of pop artists for rehearsals ahead of UK and worldwide tours.
The main studio has a clear height of 20m to the underside of the trusses, with 3m of rigging space above for the suspended lights. At one end of the building, there are several band rooms while the opposite end contains storage facilities for band equipment etc.
Complete soundproofing has been key to this project as the building is situated in an industrial park and a strong emphasis has been placed by the local authority to ensure there is no sound disturbance to adjacent premises and nearby residents. The solution provided entails an insulated acoustic, built up profiled cladding system with 2.1m of precast concrete retaining walls to the perimeter of the studio. Renewable energy elements include air source heat pumps situated behind an acoustic enclosure. The studio also benefits from natural ventilation, incorporated within the built up cladding system, and independently controlled underfloor heating.
Power for the building is provided by two generators which give the flexibility to provide up to 4000 volts.
