Location: Totnes, Devon
Midas Homes worked with South Hams District Council and Sovereign Housing to create 51 new one, two, three and four bedroom homes in Totnes, Devon.
The properties comprise a mix of apartments, houses, coach houses and townhouses, and in response to local housing needs, a third are classed as affordable. Midas Homes have also built one and refurbish two commercial units for South Hams District Council.
The scheme, which has won a National Housebuilder Design Award for its design, provides eco-friendly homes for the Totnes community, meeting the Eco Homes “Excellent” Standard. The mixed-use project features innovative building designs, using locally sourced materials and is a contemporary development, relating to the character of Totnes.
The development also scooped the Overall Award in the 2009 Housing Design Awards. Judges acknowledged the collaboration between the planning authority, local people, architect and development team as “worthy of national attention”.
