Birmingham Schools PPP1

The first grouped schools PPP contract in the Education sector involving the construction of seven new schools and the part build/ refurbishment of a further three schools, has provided new educational facilities for over 5,000 pupils.

As each school was handed over Galliford Try's facilities management business then began the provision of a full facilities management support service over the 30 year concession period.

The results from the award-winning project have been excellent. Educationally empowered headteachers are benefiting from the project and clear statistical improvements in exam results are being sustained and improved on.

Heather Jones, Headteacher of Yardleys said: “Close co-operation between the contractors, architect and client has created a superb learning environment and the realisation of a long held dream for the headteacher, staff and students of the school.”

Ingrid Gallagher, Headteacher of Perry Beeches School said: "The design is just brilliant; people who go past just can't believe it's a school…this building says we value the children, we value learning and we also value the community. The changes in pupils have been unbelievable. You can see they have a greater sense of pride by their demeanor as they walk down the corridor."

City Council Leader Mike Whitby said: “Perry Beeches School is a testament to the successful partnership of the public and private sector in creating public service developments.”
