Barry Kingscote and Andy Taylor have been named as finalists at this year’s 2024 prestigious Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards, which recognise the UK's finest construction professionals across a range of different categories.

Barry Kingscote, Senior Project Manager for Galliford Try Building London and South East Commercial, has been nominated for the Construction Manager of the Year Award in the Commercial category for 1-4 Marble Arch.

The 1-4 Marble Arch project in London saw the complex reconstruction of the 1920s building for The Portman Estate, retaining the original façade while completely replacing the remainder of the structure and adding a second basement level. The BREEAM Excellent rated project was also shortlisted for last year’s Construction News Workforce Awards in the Project Team of the Year category, highlighting the fantastic performance of the people involved.

Meanwhile, Andy Taylor, Delivery Manager for Galliford Try’s Environment division, has been nominated for the Construction Manager of the Year Award in the Public category, for his exceptional work on the AMP7 framework with South West Water, mentoring junior members of the team to enable their growth and strengthen their talent within the water business network.

Commenting on his nomination Barry Kingscote said: “It has been a privilege to have led this prestigious project, and this nomination is a testament to the team's hard work and dedication on what was a challenging and ultimately highly successful project in the heart of London’s West End.”

Andy Taylor added: "I am delighted to be considered for this award and I would like to thank my team for all the support they have shown me, without which I would not have achieved what we have across the AMP7 programme. I wish all the nominees the best of luck at the awards.”

The winners will be announced on 9 April 2024.
