Welsh Water

Strong performance has been one of the tangible benefits of a high level of programme management expertise deployed by Morrison Construction on the £100 million portfolio of design and construction work. The framework provides full visibility of the programme and a significant degree of flexibility for our team, both of which have produced efficiencies from effective resource utilisation efficient and effective use of resources.

Co-location with Welsh Water has fostered close liaison with land agents, cost consultants and designers throughout and has helped to drive further value from the programme.

We are involved from the very outset of projects covering feasibility, modelling, outline design and target costing. Once Capex and Opex is approved, projects are taken through design, construction, commissioning and handover with innovative solutions developed to lever significant added value and enable many projects to come in ahead of time and under budget.

The introduction of an efficient solution based on “Litespeed” plastic units on a number of CSO projects has eliminated the need for heavy craneage, thereby saved time, cost and considerably reduced the construction risk profile.

This high level of control of the programme by Morrison Construction enables resources to be focussed on areas of most urgent need whilst retaining the flexibility to incorporate additions to the programme, which have included £14 million of flood alleviation work. This flexibility has enabled the client to manage priorities as well us to deliver the frequent requests from developers for new connections.

The achievement led to Morrison Construction winning Dwr Cymru Welsh Water’s inaugural Health & Safety Award in addition to retaining RoSPA Gold status.
