Morrison Construction has a track record of successfully delivering on time and driving significant cost savings through design and construction innovation that has enabled us to widen our client base to water companies across southern England.
The capability built up in areas including programme management, commissioning and design to meet the needs of Southern Water and the 4D delivery vehicle is now also being deployed for a growing number of companies including South East Water and South West Water.
Morrison Construction is delivering the biggest share of Tier One work let by 4D, providing a whole-lifecycle service from design through to commissioning and handover on a £60 million portfolio of work which includes water, waste water and infrastructure projects.
In addition to cost savings, the team has also had considerable success with its approach to third party issues since it began working in the region in 2001. A dedicated team set up to deal with land entry, local authority liaison and public consultation has focussed on a strategy of a high level of personal and early engagement. A significant number of businesses and individuals have praised the approach taken on many projects.
The flexibility of the team to deal with scope changes to meet client needs has also been demonstrated during projects such as the £250,000 Halling Chalk, a clean water process plant scheme which began as a minor upgrade project but developed into a major programme of work requiring significant liaison with the client throughout. The fast-tracked scheme took less than a year from conception to construction at a value of £1.1 million.
Other flagship projects the business has been involved in include a £13 million scheme to improve water quality in the River Medway, which recently began commissioning, and a £10 million design and construct dual manholes scheme which has seen most of the network serving Tunbridge Wells upgraded.
