SA1 Contract 2, Zone B Leisure Quarter, Swansea

The SA1 Contract 2 project undertaken by Morrison Construction for the Welsh Development Agency (WDA) involved the construction of 240m of road to complete the infrastructure for the leisure zone of the development. To complete the contract it was necessary to form an earth embankment within the tidal area of the docks. This involved close working relation with all of the concerned parties to minimise the effect on the environment.

During the contract period the WDA asked Morrison Construction to carry out additional works, which included the demolition of old warehouses. Prior to the demolition, Morrison Construction’s environmental team checked the buildings for wildlife, as the team had been involved with the ecology study of the area at the start of the SA1 scheme.
