Abbey Hill

Located on the junction where the A5, H3 Monks Way and V5 Great Monks Street elevated roundabout intersect, the works undertaken by Morrison Construction were required to increase the carriageway capacity. This was achieved through the widening of the slip roads from the A5 and at several other locations within and on the approaches to the roundabout. In order to enable the widening of the carriageway, all embankments required widening.

In addition to this, new street-lighting and full-time traffic signal systems were installed and commissioned on the site. Whilst waiting for permanent grid connection, the reuse of existing power sources to power street-lighting and signals on a temporary basis saved costs on generators. All materials / waste were segregated at source and all topsoil was reused on the scheme with imported fill materials locally sourced.
