Aviemore Transport Interchange

The Highland Council awarded Morrison Construction a contract to construct the new Aviemore Transport Interchange. The purpose of the project was to improve intermodal transport links in Aviemore, integrating safe access between road and rail traffic for pedestrians, motorists and users of public transport.

The works comprised two sections within the village of Aviemore, namely High Range and Station Square.

The High Range section of the works included the construction of a new roundabout at the junction of the B9152 and the B970 including earthworks, vehicular restraint systems, roadworks, drainage, signing, lighting and landscape works. These Works included the use of high quality natural stone with feature boulders in kerbing, walling and landscaping.

The Station Square section of the Works included the resurfacing and paving of Station Square in bituminous material and high quality natural stone with earthworks, roadworks, drainage, signing, lighting and landscape works to the Village Green.

The works being carried out adjacent to commercial premises, the railway station and bus stops demanded management of high volume pedestrian and vehicular traffic movements, and dealing with Utilities and other affected parties.
