Galliford Try is committed to achieving industry leading performance in health, safety and environmental management across the organisation, and recognises that achieving the highest standards in health, safety and environment is an integral part of our business and will take all reasonable steps to minimise health, safety and environmental risk to all of our stakeholders.
With the full backing of senior management, health, safety and environmental management takes a structured proactive approach involving all members of the organisation to ensure full utilisation of each individual’s skills and experience.
With an accident incident rate that remains well below the industry average, we set targets for continuous improvement across the Group and have recently reorganised and strengthened our health, safety and environmental team to ensure all our operations receive a high quality service.
In the last 12 months, we launched a completely revised Health, Safety and Environment Policy and associated standards in line with the increased capabilities of the Group. We also held our first National Health and Safety Climate Survey, receiving over 4,500 responses from both staff and subcontractors; and hence obtaining a comprehensive response on the status of our health and safety culture.
In addition, we embarked upon our behavioural strategy, that we envisage provides the sustainable backbone to culture and the way we affect health, safety and environment for many years to come.
