FCA warning to shareholders

We and other companies are aware that some of our shareholders have received unsolicited phone calls or correspondence concerning investment matters. These are typically from overseas based 'brokers' who target UK shareholders offering to sell them what often turn out to be worthless or high-risk shares in US or UK investments. They can be very persistent and extremely persuasive.

Shareholders are advised to be very wary of any unsolicited advice, offers to buy shares at a discount or offers of free reports about the company.

If you receive unsolicited investment advice:

  • Make sure you obtain the correct name of the person and organisation.
  • Check that they are properly authorised by the FCA before getting involved. You can check the Financial Services Register here >>>
  • Refer to the FCA website for a list of unauthorised overseas firms which are targeting, or have targeted, UK investors. You can check the FCA Warning List here >>>
  • If you suspect you have been contacted by an unauthorised firm individual carrying out an FCA-regulated activity, please report it using the FCA’s online 'report a scam or unauthorised firm' form so any appropriate action can be considered.

In addition, please inform our Registrars, Equiniti, on 0371 384 2202 or +44 121 415 7047 if you're calling from overseas.

Further information on share fraud and boiler rooms is available on the FCA website along with other information on this and similar activity for consumers.

Details of any share dealing facilities that the Company endorses will be included in company mailings and are available on our shareholders section.

Recruitment scam

It has come to our attention that individuals and organisations are contacting job seekers with fabricated offers of employment at Galliford Try and Morrison Construction as part of a recruitment scam. The correspondence is used to solicit personal details, cash or bank information of the targeted individuals by the organisations claiming to be acting on behalf of the company. These scams sometimes use false LinkedIn profiles purporting to be Galliford Try managers.

Galliford Try and its companies do not in any circumstances use recruitment or placement agencies that charge candidates an advance fee of any kind including placement fees, immigration processing fees, work permit fees etc.

If you are unsure about any communication claiming to be from Galliford Try or its associated companies we advise that you should:

  • Forward any suspicious correspondence to us at careers@gallifordtry.co.uk for investigation.
  • Report any such propositions to your local police or law enforcement agency.
  • Do not respond to any unsolicited emails or employment offers from people you are unfamiliar with.
  • Do not disclose your personal/financial details to anyone offering job opportunities.

We are committed to upholding our responsibilities to our stakeholders. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are in any doubt about whether a career opportunity at Galliford Try is genuine.

Fraudulent email orders

A large number of attempts have been made to place fraudulent orders with suppliers and manufacturers for raw materials and goods. Typically these copy Galliford Try letterheads and logos and contain links to our website, but the person’s contact details will be an email address slightly different to our email addresses. The person uses the name of a genuine director and presents copies of genuine filed accounts as evidence of financial standing. Consignments are then stolen. Frequently the thieves target suppliers across Europe. The Police have been notified. Please ensure that you contact Galliford Try using contact details on our website (not from the order enquiry itself) to verify all requests to place orders. If you are not sure that a communication is genuine please copy it to us to check.
