Human Resource Development
The Galliford Try Group has a proven commitment to the training and development of its staff, making full use of our internal labour market to satisfy recruitment needs whilst at the same time offering real opportunities for promotion.

The annual Performance and Development Review is a vital part of our strategy for ensuring the continual development and learning of our staff. The key to effective human resource development within Galliford Try is that it is planned and therefore strategic. Through the results of the review we are able to produce an annual training and development plan which provides a broad range of learning opportunities designed not only to improve technical skills but also interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills.

In addition all members of staff receive full induction training during the initial period of their employment which covers the full range of tasks they are likely to encounter. This is supplemented by a full health and safety training course which is regularly updated in accordance with legislation and examples of best practice.

In order to support skill acquisition and to provide a framework for management development which will enable staff to manage their own career development, the Group adopts a strategy based on the principles of ’”stepping stones”  which begins at trainee level and moves through six stages providing a range of learning and development opportunities.
