Museum of Liverpool

Galliford Try is undertaking the construction of an iconic landmark building for the Museum of Liverpool, under a Joint Venture arrangement with Danish building contractor, Pihl.

The total floor area of the three-storey museum will be 10,000sq m, including an impressive central atrium. Construction is founded on a 4m deep cellular raft and involves complex but traditional steel frame. Elevations are predominantly of an Italian stone cut into relieved trapezoidal sections.

The new national museum, which is expected to attract 750,000 visitors a year, will feature audio visual displays and object collections in four main galleries, telling the story of Liverpool’s creative history, including the work of Brookside creator, Phil Redmond and the music of The Beatles.
